Advice on Submitting Abstracts for Young Researchers Contributed Papers
This is the first
time the workshop on Bayes case studies will include short contributed
presentations (15 minutes) by young researchers (students, or PhD. completed
after 1999). Young statisticians interested in presenting one of the
contributed talks should submit a one-page detailed abstract.
The abstracts
should emphasize the scientific and technological background, indicate
how the methods were applied to solve a real problem, and describe how
the use of Bayesian methods have addressed the practical and scientific
aspects of the problem considered. Highlight the
utility of recently-developed methods, or point out places where further
methodological development would be helpful.
The abstract should, if possible, also mention a relevant
paper by the author, and its publication status or stage of completion.
Priority will be given to work that illuminates the use of
cutting-edge Bayesian methods, and will be completed (in the form of a
submitted article) at the time of the workshop.
To be considered
for a presentation, abstracts are due by July 1, 2005.
Talks to be presented
at the meeting will be selected by the organizing committee on the basis
of all abstracts received. Abstracts not selected for talks will be
considered as posters.

Advice
on Submitting Abstracts for Contributed Papers
Contributed papers must emphasize
the scientific or technological context. In particular, the title should
reflect this, and the abstract should begin with a brief description of
the applied setting before saying anything about the statistical methodology.
The abstract should make it apparent that the methods were applied to
solve a real problem. For contributed papers we require the use of Bayesian
methods, but there does not have to be any particular novelty in the methods
themselves. Of greatest interest are those applications that illuminate
useful methods, or point out where there are shortcomings and where further
methodological development would be helpful.

Papers (http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/bayesworkshop/abs-sub03.html).
