Research Interests:
In recent years, I have been involved in content development for the Carnegie Mellon Open Learning Initiative (OLI) Statistics course, as well as a student-led SURG project to identify risk for depression among freshmen.
Bio:
Teaching is in my blood. Both of my parents were teachers (my grandfather was a doctor and my great-grandfather was a Westinghouse engineer). Even in elementary school, I delighted in explaining science to my friends and I was selected by my teachers to tutor the other students. During and after high school, I worked as a paid tutor in math and science; and in undergrad I taught introductory mathematics classes. My interests included math and science (my friends and I would skip class to go to the library and read Scientific American and then quiz each other), so statistics is a natural fit for me; and the vibrant, active, and uniquely interdisciplinary atmosphere of Carnegie Mellon is endlessly challenging and stimulating.
