Research Interests:

Beka Steorts' research concerns Bayesian small area estimation and survey methodology problems, both from the theoretical and applied perspectives. Most of her motivations are drawn from applications to the U.S. Census Bureau. Her interests also include Bayesian methodology, decision theory, multiple record linkage, capture recapture methods, and sports statistics.

Bio:

Beka Steorts is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics. She joined CMU in June 2012. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in May 2012 under the direction of Malay Ghosh. She received her M.S. in Mathematical Sciences from Clemson University in 2007 and her B.S. in Mathematics from Davidson College in 2005. Beka Steorts enjoys running (among many other sports), cooking, playing with her dog Noah, film and the arts, and watching college football (go Gators!) and college hoops!
