Teaching

In the past, I was the instructor for 36-220, Engineering Statistics. This involved the whole gamut of lecturing, assigning homeworks, wielding TAs, and writing exams for 120 or so students. A very edifying experience; mostly from the standpoint of learning what not to do.

Also at Carnegie Mellon University, I have been the Associate Instructor for 36-201, Introduction to Statistics. This involves helping the instructor handle the workload involved in teaching a large number of young undergraduates.

I have been a TA for numerous classes including

  • Probability and Statistics I
  • Introduction to Statistics II
  • Statistics and Experimental Design for Social Scientists
  • Graduate Stochastic Processes
  • Statistical Learning
  • Graduate Regression Analysis.

The tasks usually involve, depending on the class, grading, doing solutions, running labs, holding office hours, and occasionally giving lectures when the Instructor is out of town.

Lastly, while at the University of Colorado I was a teaching assistant to the many Calculus classes. In addition to much grading, I also had to write and give one lecture a week for what was known as recitation.
