Course Description:
This class is on advanced topics in machine learning theory, focusing on a mix of classic results, most of which are not covered in other classes, along with several topics from the recent literature. We will focus on the analysis of VC classes, both in themselves, and in the context of machine learning, emphasizing state-of-the-art results and some open questions. The topics covered will be of theoretical interest, and in many cases also of practical interest.

Here is a link to the class syllabus.
There is no official textbook, but we will have (optional) supplemental readings posted below as we go.
Some students may also find helpful the book, A Probabilistic Theory of Pattern Recognition, by Devroye, Gyorfi, and Lugosi, which covers some of the results we will discuss in class.

The following is a rough schedule, including links to homework assignments and optional supplemental readings.
The schedule will be updated regularly as the semester progresses.
