RUNNING WINDOWS SOFTWARE ON A MAC:

To run Windows software on a Mac, you will need to install Windows XP,
Vista or 7 in one of the following ways:

1. Via Bootcamp, Apple's setup program that is in
   /Applications/Utilities

[this will be cheaper, run WinBUGS faster, and be less convenient,
because the mac os and windows won't be running at the same time.]

2. With Parallels or VMWare, both of which are available for purchase at
   the computer store.

[this will cost a bit more, run WinBUGS more slowly, but be more
convenient, since windows will be running "inside of" the mac os.]

You will also need a copy of the version of Windows that you wish to
install.

Parallels, VMWare and Windows are available at student pricing at the
Carnegie Mellon Computer store.

N.B.: I am not a Mac person, so I will be of limited help if you
encounter problems. If there turns out to be a common set of problems
getting Windows/R/Winbugs set up on a Mac, I will be glad to ask our
dept sysadmin to help us solve them.
