At the beginning of the course we will do a handful of these labs, as a quick way to become familiar with some R software for descriptive network analysis, and to become familiar with descriptive network terminology. The original labs are available on-line at http://sna.stanford.edu/rlabs.php but I found that they haven't been maintained as the underlying R packages have evolved, and so I have copied them all here and edited them where I could quickly find fixes for things that had been broken by obsolescence. So, you are probably better off using the R files here than the ones at the stanford sna site. Note that the data sets can all be imported directly into R via the www, as documented in the R files within each lab. Before you begin, you should run the R file "setup.r" once, to install most of the R packages you will need. There are one or two more to install, sprinkled around the labs, but at least "setup.r" will set you up with most of them. Let Mauricio (the course TA) or me know, if you are having any difficulties accessing the R files or the data sets, or if something isn't running in R the way you expect it to. all best, -BJ
