Project B: Biochemical Markers of Neuron Growth Investigator: Alison Barth, Biological Sciences, Carnegie Mellon Team: Drew Crossett, Steven Wasik Drew is passive Steve is passive agressive they have their own agenda and it is not the project they tend to inexpertly parrot the sciecne (and even the analogies of the scientist) without thinking about what it all means In different ways, neither is a careful thinker. - neither has an organized approach to their work - drew is a plodder - he can parrot an action or phrase but that's about it - steve makes random stabs at things. Sometimes he stumbles on something useful but often this is a waste of time. Moreso because he is slow to look at other ways of doing things if he has decided on a direction to go - neither makes much effort to build evidential warrants for assertions they make in the project Steve's passive/agressivity came out in several ways - at the beginning he was effectively trying to torpedo the project because he didn't feel Alison respected him - in the middle and at the end he allowed his view of the noisiness / chunkiness of the data to dominate over Alison's scientific questions. - misses meetings, comes unprepared, etc. Drew's passivity means that he is not much of a learner - can't figure out the science - writes in cliches and colloquialisms - not much followthrough if he starts to tip off the tracsk - wants to be everybody's buddy
