PAPER MAX EARNED Content 30 28 correct appropriate complete - the information you provided was interesting. Much of it is known, at least in broad terms, to Judy and Christian already (because it is EDA, and they have done their own version of EDA on this data before). - if you had had time, even your EDA leads to interesting further analyses. e.g.: - jumps and dips in # of alumni graduating in fig 3 - additional analyses of differences between email and nonemail alums (logistic regr?) - contingency table analysis of relationships between different ways alums can be 'active' Organizations 20 18 overall sentences and paragraphs signposts for skim reader two audiences (investigator and instructors) - TOC useful - well organized at the level of sections and subsections. Section and subsection names indicate problems of interest to clients rather than stat methods (that is good) - local organization (sentences and parags) pretty good too Format 10 8 layout typography - fine. - tables and figs break up text a bit. A better strategy would be to use only a couple talbes and figs in the main text and save the rest for an appx Language 10 10 voice precise clear concise forthright familiar fluid - generally pretty good Mechanics 10 8 grammar usage punctuation spelling - generally very good. Could use some copyediting for usage. Figures and Tables 10 8 judiciousness each discussed in text - well labeled and captioned - not always mentioned in the text Appendix/es 10 5 judiciousness organization crossref'd from text - no appxs - tables and figs break up text a bit. A better strategy would be to use only a couple talbes and figs in the main text and save the rest for an appx TOTAL 100 85 OVERALL COMMENTS: Nice job on a hard project, made harder by the late arrival of data. I thought your exploratory analyses were nice and your general comments on panel survey design were useful. In their comments on the project, Judy and Christian are clearly very pleased to have worked with you, but also somewhat disappointed that not so much work was done on a deeper analysis of what makes alumni "active", nor on simulating survey data from the existing data set to explore methodology for panel survey in the future. You probably didn't have time for all this, but staying in better contact with Judy and Christian in the second half of the semester would have allowed you to focus more on the things that were of urgent interest to them (maybe you would have worked more on 'active alumni' and simulated survey results, than EDA, for example). Judy and Christian are interested in someone taking this project further as an ADA project. If you know anyone who would be interested in this, (including you!), please let me know.
