The 1910 Census shows 36 year old William living with wife Anna (35), mother-in-law Ida Zenda (60, ?sp.), her children Harry (13) and sister Annette (7) and nearly 2 year old Julie. He owns a home at 150 Passaic Street, Passaic New Jersey; three other families rent at that address. William is a retail merchant at a hardware store. He immigrated from Russia in 1888.

By the 1920 Census Ida and Harry are no longer living with them. The place of birth is more specific as "Kovna" (the same province of current-day Lithuania where Monie Levinson's parents were born). There is a naturalization date of 1893 for both William and Anna. Williams's trade is "hardware". They are still in the house at 150 Passaic Street.

In the 1930 Census William and family have moved to 130 Steward Street in Passaic, a house worth $17,000. William is the proprietor of a hardware store.
