1900 Census   Living at 1112 Penn Avenus with wife Lena, children Rueben M and Pearl, brother Julius (and family) and parents Millie and Philip. Immigrated in 1889. Working in a shoe store.

In the 1910 Census 37 y/o Tom is living at 1207 Penn Ave with wife Lena (32), son Reuben (12), daughter Pearl (9), son Louis (6), daugher Minnie (4), daughter Esther (1), and brother-in-law Harry Brobofsky (21). The place of birth of the adults and their parents is "Russ-Yiddish". Tom immigrated in 1889 and is naturalized. Lena and Harry immigrated in 1896. All the children were born in Pennsylvania. Tom is working on his own account as a clothing merchant. Harry is working on his own account as a groceries merchant.

On his WWI draft registration card Thomas lists his address as 1207 Penn Ave, occupation as merchant, and nearest relative as his wife "Mrs Thos Caplan". He is short, of slender build with black hair and grey eyes.

In the 1920 Census they've moved to 841 Chislett Street which is owned with a mortgage. 46 y/o Thomas is still a retail merchant in clothing. Lena is 43. 22 y/o Reuben is a retail merchant in jewelry working on his own account. Pearl (22) is a saleslady in clothing and Louis (19) is a salesman in a department store, both working for wages. Minnie (13), Esther (11), and Gertrude (7) are in school and Florence is only 3 years 11 months old (in January). Also living at the house are the three members of the Weisbood family who are renting.

In the 1930 Census they are living at the same house, and only Pearl has moved out. There are no renters listed, and the house is worth $12,000. They own a radio. 56 year old Thomas is no longer working. Both Reuben and Louis are salesmen in the jewelry business. Minnie is a saleslady at a department store. Gertrude and Florence are in school.
