Undergraduate Participation in VIGRE

A primary way for undergraduates to participate in the VIGRE Program in Statistics is to engage in real research, either as a summer research intern or as a research associate in Fall or Spring.

It is NOT NECESSARY to be a Statistics major or minor to participate in the VIGRE program.

  • If you are interested in a Summer research internship, check out the Department's Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (SURE) program.  VIGRE supported RA positions that SURE interns can do are listed here after spring break each year.
  • If you are interested in a Fall, Spring or Summer research associate (RA) position you can fill out this application form and submit it.
  • To decide what you are interested in...
  • A limited number of $500 stipends is available for VIGRE undergraduate RA's [stipends are higher in the summer].
  • By law, VIGRE can offer monetary support only to US Citizen, US Nationals, or US Permanent Residents.
  • If you do not get a paid RA or you are not elegible for one, you are still welcome to take a "Reading and Research" course (36-295 or 36-495 depending on your level) and do the research for course credit.
